Indiana artist James Wille Faust (b. 1949) is inspired by the birds, fish, flora and fauna that surround his riverside home as well as the arrowheads and grinding stones he found as a child on his family farm. This spurred a lifelong interest in the pre-European history of this country and an intrigue for the Indian tribes that were forced to move farther and farther west. His recent paintings and sculptures reflect the Indians’ respect for the earth, air, fire and water.
Faust received his BFA in sculpture from the Herron School of Art of Indiana University and an MFA in painting from the University of Illinois. His work is included in the permanent collections of the National Air and Space Administration at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida; The White House, Washington, D.C.; Minnesota Museum of Art, St. Paul; Absolut Art Collection; Herron School of Art and the Indianapolis Art Center.
