Antique Helper AND Ripley Auctions?

At Antique Helper our sellers are our “clients”. The auction business is a service business when it is simply used for liquidation. It is an efficient method of selling assets designed to achieve a fair market value. Antique Helper was founded in 2001 with a mission to provide this service to the public utilizing the Internet to expand the collecting marketplace. Antique Helper’s founding partners; Dan Ripley and Jeb Banner were collectively the most experienced art and antiques dealers and Ebay sellers in Indianapolis. They used their combined experience to bring live auction services for collectible personal property to the Internet auction marketplace. Within the first year they were producing some of the first live Internet bidding auctions presented on Ebay. Immediately, Antique Helper was producing sale results that outdistanced the local competition and sellers flocked to them taking advantage of the “seller’s market” they had produced. AH effectively utilized Ebay Live until 2008 when Ebay discontinued the service. The Internet collector’s marketplace has been fragmented since that time, until now. On October 9th of this year Antique Helper/Ripley Auctions produced the first Ebay Live auction on the newly created Ebay Live platform in partnership with Invaluable. Antique Helper is excited to provide this service once again to our clients!

At Ripley Auctions our bidders are our “customers”. The name Ripley is a brand in itself among collectors. Ripley’s Believe It or Not, founded by Robert Ripley (no relation to Dan), represents one of the greatest collectors of all time. Dan Ripley is the third generation of Indianapolis Ripleys to work in the collectible marketplace. With a collective experience of decades of antiques shows, galleries, and auctions; Dan Ripley knows what collectors need from an auction house. Collectors have traditionally sought out dealers to purchase quality collectibles, art and antiques. Experienced, knowledgeable collectors have long recognized that auctions provide fresh-to-the-market buying opportunities without the dealer/middleman. Today’s buyers and collectors are more knowledgeable than ever with access to all of the information that the Internet provides. Ripley Auctions recognizes the products and related information needed to inspire confident bidders and offers unique products for our customers. Collectors will find us online doing business as Ripley Auctions on Ebay Live (Worldwide), Invaluable (U.S. and U.K.), La Figaro (France) and Epai (China).

At Antique Helper we are actively seeking CLIENTS. Ripley Auctions has customers waiting to bid on your collections. Today we are no longer in a seller’s market. Offering the clients access to buyers in the largest marketplace possible, provides the best sales service to sellers. Antique Helper is actively seeking clients with unique, select art, antiques and collections. Please contact us to discuss how we can help you. dan@antiquehelper.com

Is ebay, pinterest and amazon a good measurer of a price on a vintage item? I have seen prices all over the place for various vintage items and question the validity of the prices or is it whatever a buyer is willing to pay? Thank you.

I have an antique lamp, labeled on the bottom: E M & CO 1160. I can't find any information on it, other than it was made by Edward Miller & Co. Can you help? Thanks, John Peek

My grandfather have me a picture 60 years ago and told me to hang onto it because it was worth a lot. It is the one that reads "gee I wish I were a man I would join the Navy " . It is signed and dated. 1917. Do you have any idea what it might be worth?
