Meet the Antique Helper Team featuring Andrea Hastings

Meet Andrea Hastings

Vice President of Inventory and Client Services

At the Helper since April 2003

For many clients, Andrea is the face of Antique Helper. She is often the point of contact for sellers, and always a familiar face in the crowd on auction day. She has been with the company longer than any other member of the Antique Helper Team, bringing a wealth of knowledge in the areas of fine art, jewelry, dolls and decorative arts. Here’s your chance to get up close and personal with Andrea Hastings.

Educational Background: School of the Art Institute of Chicago

What do you love about your job? I love seeing new things, learning the history of an object. My personal goal is to see one of everything.

Tell us about your personal collections: I am a pretty eclectic collector, but my main focus is folk art and modern art.

Favorite auction find: I love it when we have artists’ estates. Among my favorite Antique Helper purchases is a bust by Indianapolis artist Robert Lohman (Pictured with Andrea, above). I am also very proud of a carved wood head crafted by a local naive artist.

If you could own only one fabulous object, what would it be? I would love to own an original Andy Warhol screen print. It wouldn’t matter which one; I love them all.

What would you do if you weren’t working at Antique Helper? My dream would be to own a boutique in a resort area, some beautiful place.

When you’re not at Antique Helper, we'll most likely find you:    Spending quality time with my two little girls and my husband, Andrew.

The best advice you can give to a collector: It may sound cliché, but you have to buy what you know. If you want to learn about something, you need to handle the real thing and follow up with research. Be well-informed.

Favorite lunch: Indian buffet!
