When acquiring an estate or belongings after the death of a loved one, there is a lot to consider and the process can be very overwhelming - especially during an emotionally sensitive time.
Probate
Every state differs in probate requirements. Typically, after a Probate Court authenticates a will, the executor (or personal representative) is responsible for administering the estate. If you’re unsure whether the assets of your loved one need to go through probate, please contact an attorney, your state’s probate court or the decedent’s county for more information and to complete the administration of the will. We work alongside the estate executor and treat items and estate with respect.
In order to provide instruction on probate estate settlement or an estate appraisal, Antique Helper will need a copy of the probate court order or signature from the probate judge.
Probate Estate
Antique Helper can help make the estate settlement process less of a burden. If a property is individually owned and does not list a beneficiary, it is considered a probate estate. The executor of the estate is responsible for transferring the probate estate’s assets to beneficiaries and handling outstanding debts.
There are a number of ways to settle an estate, or transfer assets of a probate estate. Please consult http://www.estatesettlement.com/ and search by state to determine the process required to settle an estate according to the decedent’s state.
Antique Helper provides several different options to appraise an estate’s items:
- email us images
- Send actual photos in the mail
- Stop by our auction house to get an in-person appraisal.
- We can also make arrangements to come to the estate and do your appraisal on site.
- In addition, we can provice full-service pick-up and shipment of your items.
