 Embed this image:  | LOT 179Erte Visage de Femme Art Deco Bronze VaseEstimate: $1500 - $2500 Realized: $1250 Erte (Russian 1892 - 1990), "Visage de Femme", (Faces of Women), silvered and gilt bronze with crystal trumpet vase insert marked with "Cristal Sevres France" acid stamp. Base of bronze engraved "Erte"; edge of base marked with 1987 copyright, and numbered 117/425. 14"H. In 1925 Erte' completed a series of ink drawings called "Dreams" in which the smoke flowing from men's cigars and pipes formed beautiful women's faces. Later that year, he visualized eight veils and faces of women emerging from a "glittering cloud." Designed in 1986, This work is Erte's homage to the complex woman of today, her many faces, her beauty. |
