 Embed this image:  | LOT 3187Wm Williams Pa Folk Art Watercolor Battle SceneEstimate: $150 - $350 Realized: $150 William E. Williams (American, 1818-1897) Folk art painting. Williams executed a number of watercolors as a teen in 1833 living in Wrightstown, Bucks Co., Pa. He died without heirs in 1897. This naive depiction shows two well armed, engaged combatants. Image: 4 7/8" x 7". Good condition. These paintings were acquired from a descendant. There was an accompanying journal from the time describing Williams's activities and current events. It also makes mention of his later years as a gentleman farmer and his association with the Cadwalladers, a well known Revolutionary family. |
