John Wesley Hardrick (American, 1891-1968), "Overlook at Beanblossom", oil on board; 23 1/2" x 29 1/2"; unsigned. Brass plaque on frame. Hardrick was an important African-American painter from Indianapolis. He studied at the Herron Art Institute and exhibited with fellow African-American painter, W.E. Scott in 1917. He also shared a studio with Hale Woodruff for a time in the 1920's. He worked as a WPA muralist in 1933-34.
