French 19th century monkey musicians automaton with mechanism by Theroude. The male violinist and female guitarist perform in a Palatial drawing room with gilt furniture, cloth wall coverings with gesso and gilt embellishment around mirrored panels, all under a glass dome with paper mounting. Clockwork movement consists of figures moving heads and eyes up and down, hands move as if playing instruments, the male's foot taps. Music box is pull string activated. With dome, 24 1/2"H ; 21 1/4"H without dome. Figures approx. 7 1/2"H. Good working and cosmetic condition. Restored. One mirror are mounted non-professionally. Minor loss to paper covered floor.
