William H. Hopper (American, 1935-1999) "Shante", abstract wall hanging multimedia paint and fabric signed and dated 1965 lower left. In 1975 this work was included in The American Embassy One Man touring exhibition of Japan through Betty Parsons Gallery, New York. The artist's personal letters of communication to the private owner of "Shante" are included with the piece. Hopper received a BFA from John Herron Art Institute and went on to earn a Master's Degree at Florida State in 1960. He was an art educator throughout Indiana in the late 50s and 60s, and later active in his Manhattan studio. Exhibitions include; Indiana State and DePauw Universities, numerous NYC gallery shows, IMA, MOMA. Numerous prestigious private collections. 77"H x 88"W
